NSE: Bears return as market sheds N72bn

Transactions on the floor of Nigerian Stock Exchange yesterday returned to bearish trend, shedding N72 billion. Specifically, Market capitalisation of listed equities declined by 0.48 per cent to N14.890 trillion from N14.962 trillion reported on Wednesday. The NSE All Share Index also depreciated by 198.21 basis points to 41107.81 point from 41306.02 traded the previous day. Investors exchanged 320.396 million shares worth N4.760 billion in 4482 deals, against 276.242 million shares valued at N6.890 billion traded in 5327 deals.
A breakdown of the investment during the day showed Nestle Nigeria Plc led gainers table for the day, appreciating by N20.10 kobo to close at N1590.10 kobo, Cement Company of Northern Nigeria followed with a gain of N1.55 kobo to close at N22.00, Okomu Oil gained N1.05 kobo to close at N78.55 kobo, Flour Mills Nigeria Plc added N1.00 to close at N35.50 kobo, UAC of Nigeria grew by N0.85 kobo to close at N18.00. Conversely, International Breweries recorded the highest loss during day dropping by N4.30 kobo to close at N47.50 kobo, Dangote Cement trailed with a loss of N2.70 kobo to close at N246.20 kobo, Unilever Nigeria Plc dropped by N2.40 kobo to close at N52.50 kobo, Forte Oil down by N2.20 kobo to close at N43.00, Nigerian Breweries went down by N1.80 kobo to close at N127.20 kobo. Further breakdown also indicated that United Bank for Africa recorded the highest volume of activities, trading 79.908 million shares worth N935.164 million , Access Bank followed with account of 57.037 million shares valued at N644.377 million, Etranzact all 20.316 million shares cost N92.441 million, FBN Holdings exchanged 12.363 million shares worth N154.296 million.
