No palliative support from FG for Ife constituency – Ajilesoro

The lawmaker representing Ife Federal Constituency, Taofeek Abimbola Ajilesoro, on Friday declared that no palliative support had been received from the federal government for his constituency.

Ajilesoro, in a statement debunked the insinuation that the constituency had received from the federal government grains (rice) palliative worth about N100 million.

His media team stated that “as a result, the Honourable member, Ajilesoro used his resources during last year’s Christmas and new year celebrations to make provision for the distributed rice for his constituents in order not to face significant challenges due to the lack of essential resources and reliefs.”

“The absence of the expected palliative support would have added to the burdens faced by many individuals and families during these difficult times. The food items distributed by the Honourable member during the Christmas and new year celebrations were his initiative to reach out to his constituents during Yuletide season.

“This office wishes to confirm there is a food palliative for each of the federal constituencies in Nigeria as part of the 2023 supplementary budget of the federal government passed by the National Assembly.

“The programme is domiciled in the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security as part of its core mandate. Information available to us indicated that the Ministry awarded the supply of the food items to contractors about two weeks ago. We equally confirmed that the contractors and the Ministry are yet to conclude the necessary documentation before supplies can be effected.”

“We will continue to work tirelessly to raise awareness of the urgent need for palliative support and to seek alternative avenues to alleviate the hardship experienced by our community members.”
