NNPP crisis deepens as South-east leadership expels Kwankwaso, Kawu

The crisis rocking the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) seemed far from being resolved as the party executives in the South-east region, Sunday, pledged total loyalty to Dr Boniface Aniebonam as the founder and Board of Trustee (BoT) chairman of the party.

Aniebonam, it would be recalled, was on August 2023, expelled by a faction led by the acting national chairman of the party, Kawu Ali.

But the South-east leadership of the party, at the end of executive conference held in Awka, the Anambra state capital, rather pitched its interest on Aniebonam, while also recognising Agbo Major as the new acting national chairman of the NNPP.

The conference attended by major stakeholders and states working committees from the five South-east states, equally reaffirmed dissolution and indefinite expulsion of the presidential candidate of the party in 2023.

Alhaji Rabiu Kwankwaso and Kawu Aliled National Working Committee (NWC), who were sacked by Agbo- led faction since September, 2023.

The decision was followed by a vote of confidence on the founder (Aniebonam) moved by Prince Kelech Apugo, the Abịa state acting chairman of NNPP and supported by his counterpart from Enugu state, Chief Chuba Nwadiogbu, and a reaffirmation vote of expulsion on Kwankwaso/Kawu- led faction which was moved by Ebonyi state acting NNPP chairman, Hon. Ozeogu Stephen and supported by the secretary of the party in Imo state, Hon. Nnani Nnaemeka Emmanuel.
