Ndigbo eulogises Oduah, others at Lagos reception

Former governor of Anambra State, Mr. Peter Obi, has commended the federal government and former minister of aviation, Princess Stella Oduah for transforming the aviation sector to meet international standards.
Speaking in Lagos at an award ceremony organised by Ndigbo Lagos at the weekend, Obi said Oduah was rewarded in recognition of her immense contribution in transforming the aviation sector into world-class standard that “will remain a reference point by industry players and other stakeholders for several years to come.”

Obi who was also one of the awardees described the erstwhile minister’s achievements within a short space of time as “giant strides” and “unparalleled.” adding that despite the bullet-proof cars controversy that dogged her tenure, “her feat will be difficult to surmount.”

He explained that Ndigbo Lagos is a socio-cultural organisation which serves as a central point for the articulation, coordination, promotion and protection of the interest and well being of the Igbo living in Lagos and called on its members to make significant contributions for the greatness of the country.
Also speaking, the former director general of the Nigerian Economic Summit Group (NESG), Prof. Anya O. Anya, described the former minister as an “achiever” who facilitated the upgrade of Enugu Airport to international status.
He said the airport would be of immense benefit to the south-east geopolitical zone stressing that it would grow the economy of the region.

Meanwhile, eight other Igbo were honoured in their various fields of endeavour. They included Obi, the former chief of army staff, General Azubuike Ihejirika, former chief of naval staff, Admiral Dele Ezeoba and former minister of power, Prof. Barth Nnaji. The others were former executive secretary of Petroleum Products Pricing Regulatory Agency (PPPRA), Mr. Reginald Stanley, former managing director and chief executive of Fidelity Bank Plc, Mr. Reginald Ihejiahi, former managing director of Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas (NLNG), Mr. Chima Ibeneche and former managing partner of Price Water House, Mr. Ken Igbokwe.
