NDE provides transient job for 36 graduates in Enugu

The National Directorate of Employment (NDE), Enugu state, has offered transient job for 36 graduates of tertiary institutions to help coach students of secondary schools with deficiencies in their grades in WAEC. NECO, GCE, NABTEB.

Speaking at the flag off and orientation ceremony for the graduate coaching scheme (GCS) in Enugu, the director general of NDE, Mallam Abubakar Nuhu Fikpo, stated that the major objective of the programme was to reduce the rapid growth of unemployment, provide free remedial classes for secondary school leavers and assist them to make-up for grades that will enhance their chances of admission into tertiary institutions.

Fikpo who was represented at the event by the state coordinator, Mrs lfeoma Ezepue stated that the 36 beneficiaries would be assigned in threshold of 12 instructors for the three senatorial districts of the state for a period of three months intensive class teaching / coaching with proper supervision to achieve the proposed objectives.

He said the scheme organised by the special public works department of the directorate will not only provide transient job for the unemployed graduates but also add to their skills and expose them to better opportunities and in turn reduce the negative impact of social devices on the students.

In her goodwill message, the director SPW department, Mrs Roseline Olaomi, who was represented by the HOD , SPW NDE Enugu, Mrs Lucy Nnah, urge the beneficiaries to be serious as they are saddled with the responsibility to prepare these set of students for both internal and external examination.

While appreciating the federal government for funding the programme, Mrs Olaomi said the accomplishment of these tasks will provide a better output in the areas of the student’s progression into tertiary institutions and job opportunities to the coaches as well.
