The National Directorate of Employment (NDE) has begun the registration of artisans across 17 local government areas of Yobe state.
The acting state coordinator of the directorates, Hajiya Binta Aliyu, disclosed this to newsmen in Damaturu on Friday.
She said the registration of artisans began on July 17, 2023 and would end on July 30, 2023.
The state NDE coordinator called on the chairman to organise Artisans groups and associations in the state to encourage their members to register as the exercise was being conducted nationwide.
She said the initiative aimed to collect data on unemployed artisans for presentation to the federal government, adding that “the registration is for government planning to improve economic growth of artisans in Nigeria.”
Binta further revealed that they had obtained approval from the director-general of the Directorate to conduct the exercise and urged all artisans in the state to proceed to their respective local governments for registration.
