Nasarawa gov downsizes ministries, agencies with similar functions

Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa state, Thursday downsized ministries and agencies with similar operational schedules to streamline functions of agencies according to specifications.

This followed the report of a 13-Man civil service reforms committee for the restructuring of the state service submitted at government house Lafia.

Sule said the reform processes was to assist government in strengthening institutions in ensuring prudent management of scarce resources and improve efficiency as well as to reduce redundancy in the system.

The governor said that developing the civil service is also developing the economy of Nasarawa state, and without a viable civil service the state cannot have a viable economy.

The governor however, charged civil servants to brace up in carrying out their responsibilities for the economy growth of the state.

“Despite you submitted your report not to think that you have completed your job, we would look for you when the need arises, and I urged you to relate with the members of the economy advisory council so that they can ask you question in some of the areas that you have reported.”

He therefore, commended the committee for timely delivery of its assignment and assures of practical commitment in the full implementation of the report.

Chairman of the committee, Mr. Silas Dachor, explained that the committee was guided by it areas of six terms of reference and delivered within the limit of its timeframe.

Dachor expressed confidence that government would find their two-volume recommendations useful in repositioning the state service for efficiency and result oriented.
