Nasarawa: Auditor-General warns staff against truancy

The Auditor-General for local governments, Nasarawa state,  Danladi Idris Apa, has warned workers against truancy and nonchalant attitude to work.

He gave the warning on the occasion of a 3 -day sensitisation workshop for the absorbed casual staff of local governments audit, Tuesday in Lafia.

He warned that government would not condone any act of insubordination and truancy by the local government auditors, and there will be sanctions in accordance with civil service rules and regulations against anybody caught indulging in such acts.

Apa said government was committed to ensuring that the culture of discipline was entrenched in the local government system.

“Discipline is one of the qualities of an auditor. That is why the office has instituted the spirit of discipline in order to avoid any act of indiscipline. Being disciplined is an act that must be taken very seriously.

“You are also aware that one of the conditions of service is that you must be on your duty post as prompt as possible and close at government appointed official hours. This is necessary to avoid an act of truancy. I assure you that the office would not take it lightly with those who would eventually violate the order.

“Today, we have additional thirty-36 staff, courtesy of Governor A. A. Sule and we are here to instill knowledge on participants through capacity-building in the area of auditing and reporting,” he said.
