Mode of nomination of delegates confusing – Na’aba

Former Speaker House of Representatives Hon Umar Gali Na’aba has said the manner of nominating delegates to the National conference has made it difficult to understand whether the delegates should restrict themselves to arguments on the regions or the institutions they represent.

Na’abba who would have preferred elected delegates to the conference stated that it is equally difficult for a delegate to know when and whether to cross over to deliberation on issues that have nothing to do with the place or institution he is representing.

Describing unemployment as a security threat to the nation, Na’abba wanted government to declare a state of emergency on the sector. Commenting on the incident that took place last Saturday, the former speaker lamented that there were graduates of over ten years ago who were still in search of employment. He suggested that the economy of the country should be diversified to find solutions to the problems posed by unemployment saying whatever type of government that is adopted by the country would not succeed unless there is equity and justice.

Hon Na’abba stated that insurgency in some parts of the country is as a result of bad governance where people were not carried along in matters concerning them.

According to the former Speaker, insecurity is partly caused by the nonchalant attitude of the people noting that part of the conflicts in the north central zone was that grazing lands mapped out by the federal government were being taken over by farmers.
