Miyetti Allah dares Middle Belt youths on quit notice

Fulani socio-cultural association, Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore, has described the quit notice given by the Middle Belt groups to Fulani herdsmen to vacate the region before October 1, as “a big joke,” stressing that the group “has no right or capacity to give them ultimatum in the Northern Nigeria.” In a statement issued yesterday by the national publicity secretary of the group, MalamYusuf Musa Ardo, Miyetti Allah warned the Middle Belt groups and “purveyors of such divisive and provocative statements to desist from saying anything that is capable of causing crisis in the country.”

Th e statement read in part: “We are daring the middle belt youths to stay clear of us. Th ey are not talking for the Northerners because nobody knows them to be existing in the country; Nigeria only has six geo-political zones, North- central, Northeast, North-west from the North, while South-south, South-east and South-west from the South. We don’t know where they belong. So, there is nothing like Middle Belt that would come to intimidate the Fulani.

Th e Fulani group in the statement also described them as “an advocate of violence against the Northern Nigeria.” “History has it that anytime they come on air, they are always talking about one thing or the other against the North. So, if there is anything like Middle Belt, they should learn how to live in peace and unity with each other, not to be against the North where they claimed to have come from.” It would be recalled that the Middle Belt youths had, in a communiqué issued on August 7, 2017, as per Leadership newspapers, signed by one Jones Simon Alfa, said: “Th e Middle Belt youths will no longer accommodate Fulani herdsmen; they should vacate the region before 1st October, 2017, or there will be total war if they are not ready to live inpeace.
