Ministry trains 100 Kogi, Rivers women, youth in poultry


No fewer than  100 women and youth selected  from Kogi and Rivers states have benefited from training and empowerment programmes organised by the Federal Ministry of Agriculture, through the National Animal Production Research Institute, Zaria, in collaboration with Hauge Logistics Limited.


The three- day training programme which was held at the Ebira  Muslim College Training Centre, Okene,  Kogi state, involved 60 participants from Kogi and 40 from Rivers states.
The programme focused on strategic training/empowerment in the agricultural value chain, with specific attention on poultry production.

At the end of the programme, each participant got a cartoon of a –day-old chick, feed, drugs, feeder and cash as a starter pack.


In a related development, the programme facilitator, the Ozomata Foundation used the occasion to empower 200 petty traders with cash and a cash support for another 20 selected traders.


The foundation also donated three grinding machines, two motorcycles and one Keke-Napep to beneficiaries.


Speaking at the closing ceremony of the programme  Wednesday,  the chairman of Ozomata Foundation, Alhaji salihu Ozomata Haruna, said  the empowerment programme is intended to bring relief to the beneficiaries from the host community as well  as boost  the political campaign of  Alhaji Usman Ododo, the APC governorship candidate in the forthcoming election in Kogi state.


He added that over 600 people had earlier benefited from the training and empowerment programme facilitated by Ozomata Foundation in collaboration with the Ministry of Agricultural and Rural Development and other agencies.
