Chief of Defence Staff, General Gabriel Olonishakin, has said the December dateline of ending the Boko Haram insurgency “remains sacrosanct.”Olonishakin gave the assurance while briefing journalists at the headquarters of Operation Lafiya Dole, in Maiduguri.
He said his visit was to re-assess the counter insurgency operations in the theatre with a view to improving on the strategies.
He disclosed that the operation was not without its challenges, but were working assiduously to address them.
He called on Nigerians to be extra-vigilant while continue to support the military in their efforts to end the insurgency and other security challenges in the country.
The defence chief assured troops of federal government’s commitment and determination to support the military to end “the madness called Boko Haram insurgency.”
He appealed to the soldiers and their officers to dedicate themselves more and show high level commitment to their responsibilities.
