Lai commends Zamfara on security

The minister of information and culture, Alhaji Lai Muhammed has applauded the Zamfara state government for its unflinching support and commitment in minimising security challenges facing the state.
The minister made the commendation at the special town hall meeting organized by the Federal Ministry of Information and Culture on measures to curb killings held at J.B Yakubu state secretariat Gusau yesterday.
According to him, the objective of the meeting was to bridge the communication gap between the government and the citizenry as well as keep them better informed of the federal government policies and programmes.
Other essence of the meeting, according to the minister, was to ensure Nigerians some of whom are already becoming despondent over the change they voted for, despite the current challenges and that they must keep their hope alive.
He said the federal government had achieved a lot in ensuring the freedom of more than 13, 000 Boko Haram hostages from captivity.
He commended Governor Abubakar Yari for providing the necessary logistics to the security agencies in the state to fight armed banditry and other heinous criminality.
In a goodwill message, Governor Yari said his administration had procured 427 brand new Toyota Hilux vehicles to security agencies as well as a colossal amount of N17 billion expended in the same direction by his administration from 2012 to date.
He applauded the federal government efforts by deploying over 1,000 troops to the state to fight armed bandits, saying the effort would go a long way in ensuring peace to thrive in the state.
