Kogi PDP assures aspirants of fair play

Ahead of the forthcoming 2019 general elections, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kogi State has assured aspirants seeking elective positions on its platform level playing field. The party said it would endeavour to operate an equitable and fair policy that will allow all aspirants to seeking to actualise their political ambitions on the party’s platform a fair chance of success.

The party state chairman, Engr. Sam Ohuotu, who gave the assurance in Lokoja when a governorship aspirant, Chief Sunday Umoru, visited the party’s secretariat to declare his interest to contest the 2019 gubernatorial election in the state on its platform, said the PDP nationwide is open policy that allows no room for imposition and impunity.

Represented at the occasion by the treasurer of the party in the state, Barrister Alfred Bello, the chairman dispelled insinuations that a former governor of the state had already anointed a preferred governorship candidate ahead of the election. He said all those seeking to contest elections on the PDP platform would have to go through transparent party primaries after which the party’s fl ag bearers would emerge. Earlier, the aspirant had told the party executives that he was seeking the governorship mandate on the party’s platform to enable him rescue the state from its current state of underdevelopment and hardships which he claimed were inflicted on the people by the APC-led government. He promised to increase workers’ pay in the state to N70,000 if given the mandate come 2019.
