Kebbi Police Command disburses N11.5m to deceased families

The Kebbi State Police Command has disbursed the sum of N11.5 million to the families of 10 fallen heroes who died in active service between 2015 and 2017 to serve as succour and to give them a sense of belonging.
Distributing the cheques to the affected families at the Command headquarters, Birnin Kebbi yesterday, the Police Commissioner, Ibrahim M.
Kabiru, said the gesture was the strategy of the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, geared towards improving the welfare of personnel of the force.
He explained further that the IG in his wisdom has introduced several welfare packages for personnel among which include the Group Life Assurance Policy and the IG Family Welfare Scheme, aimed at taking care of the welfare of both serving personnel as well as the families of the deceased officers.
“Many serving officers have benefitted from the group life assurance and IG family welfare scheme, which has in no small measure boosted the morale of the officers, considering the risky nature of our job,” he said.
According to him, families of the deceased officers have also been benefiting from the two schemes, having lost their breadwinners.
Meanwhile a cheaques of N1.8 million was presented to the family of late Inspector Dauda Mohammed, N1.6 million to the family of late Sergeant Sunday Isah while the sum of N1.6 million was also presented to the family of late Sergeant Mathew Mutawa among others.
Cp Ibrahim urged the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the package and assured that the exercise would be a continuous one.
Speaking on behalf of the deceased families, Mohammed Dauda, thanked the IG for the kind gesture and assured that the money would be used for the purpose it was meant to serve.
Blueprint observed that many beneficiaries were shading tears as they received their cheques.
