Kaduna: Uba Sani flags-off new 18km Sanga-Kafanchan road

Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna state on Saturday flagged-off the construction of new 18km road to link Gwantu, the headquarters of Sanga Local Government with Kafanchan, Jema’a Local Government Area headquarters of the state.

The new road will link the two major local government areas in Southern Kaduna, through Kiban and Godogodo thereby reducing the travel time between the two LGAs, whose existing road through Fadan Karshi and Gidan Waya is 62 kilometers.

Flagging off the project, Governor Uba Sani said the new Sanga-Jema’a road, is one of the rural transformation projects of his administration aimed at revitalizing the rural economy and bridging the developmental gap between the rural and urban areas of the state.

The governor, while assuring that his administration will ensure even development of all parts of the state, said his administration is committed to fulfilling its promise on rural development through massive infrastructural upgrade. “This road project, which is just one in the series of investments to be made in rural infrastructure in the state, is strategic such that it links two local government areas of Sanga and Jema’a together.

“The road will not only facilitate movement of people, it will also enhance transportation of agricultural produce from farms to markets, reduce post-harvest losses often encountered by our farmers, increase agricultural production, facilitate access to education and health facilities, reduce poverty, revitalize the economies of these LGAs and permanently transform the standard of living of our people and also reduce travel time,” he said.

The state Commissioner for Public Works and Infrastructure, Arc Ibrahim Hamza, said the project is a prayer answered by Almighty God at this time in the lives of people of Sanga and Jema’a local government areas, as the project has been yearned-for, for decades.

“Historically, the people of Sanga are known for economic activities that affect communities spanning hundreds of kilometers from the north and southern flanks of Kaduna state, this road will serve as a link to the local governments in this region.

“This project is a fulfillment of His Excellency’s promise of improving the lives and fortunes of rural communities and indeed, the entire people of Kaduna state. His Excellency’s SUSTAIN Agenda has made clear his administration’s commitment to infrastructural development, hence this groundbreaking ceremony today. The socio-economic transformation this road will bring to these communities can only improve their fortunes and well being, and shall remain indelible in our memories, making it remarkably registered in the sands of time,” he said.
