Kaduna Assembly passes supplementary budget

Kaduna state House of Assembly has passed this year’s supplementary budget into law in the sum of N12.693 billion, to meet up with the expenditure on recurrent services and capital projects of the state. Th is followed the receipt of the second tranche of the Paris club refund of sum of N8.2 billion and the UBEC federal fund of N4.93 billion all from the federal government which is to be allocated to SUBEB as well as included in the 2017 approved budget to be utilised on some of the state capital projects. Speaking shortly after the passage of the bill, the chairman House Committee on information, Nuhu Shadalafi ya, said the SUBEC and the Paris Club fund was already appropriated in the 2017 budget and that the lawmakers just approved the cash backing to the executive arm of government.

Th e new Kaduna state Land and Economic Trees Compensation Law stipulated that the various rates to be paid as compensation for acquisition of land economic Trees and crops by government has be renew and that the land reforms introduce by the government and the new compensation rates gazettes in the Kaduna state. Similarly, the lawmakers referred seven executive bills to its various committees for an indepth study and to report back to the House, next month. Meanwhile, the House has begun its annual recess and to resume on October 10, 2017.
