Just In: Moro wins Benue South, returns to Senate

Incumbent Senator representing Benue South Senatorial District at the 9th National Assembly and candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Abba Patrick Moro, has defeated Comrade Daniel Onjeh of All Progressive Congress (APC) and Hon Joseph Ojobo of Labour Party (LP) to retain his seat.

Announcing the results of the keenly contested election on Monday, at the INEC Collation Centre Otukpo, the Chief Returning Officer for Benue South Senatorial election and a Lecturer at JS Tarka University Makurdi, Prof Robert Tee, said Senator Moro of PDP scored 76,459 votes to beat his closest rival and candidate of APC, who scored 59,938 votes.

Hon Joseph Ojobo of LP scored 40,194 votes to come 3rd.

He said; “Having satisfied the requirement of the law and scored the highest number of votes, Abba Patrick Moro is hereby declared the winner of the Benue South Senatorial election held on the 25th of February, 2023, and is returned elected.”
