One person was reportedly killed and four others missing while two were rescued in an attack of some passersby at Rayfield in Jos South Local government area of Plateau state.
Blueprint gathered that the victims who were riding in a Vento car with registration number XD 371 KWL were residents of Gude village in Akwanga LGA in Nasarawa state and were coming back from Maulud in Gombe state.

A survivor, Bashir Abdulkadir, said: “We were coming back from Maulud in Gombe on our way back to Gude in Nasarawa state, when we arrived in Jos around 9 30 PM, security stopped us at the Ring Road, saying that there was bomb explosion within the city, and, therefore, allowed us to enter through Bauchi Road. We met many vehicles stranded, and one security man advised us to follow the Ring Road that led to the British America Junction and take up and mistakenly our driver follow Lamingo Road. But some Berom youths blocked the road ad and they hit our vehicle and asked us to come out.

“They start beating us all over and we dispersed in the bush and some of us jumped into a stream close by and they killed our driver as he could not run because he had challenges in his leg.”
Bashir added: “I jumped into the stream, but I was unable to escape; they caught me and continued to beat me. One of them used catapult at close range and broke my tooth. They even decided to lynch me using tyre, but the arrival of military vehicle rescued me. The soldiers arrested and evacuated us to a police post close to the Air Force Headquarters.”

When contacted, the Plateau state Commissioner of Police, Chris Olakp, said he was not aware of the incident, but that what he knew was that there were skirmishes around Lamingo Road and that the matter was still under investigation.
On his part, Media and Information Officer of the Special Task Force
(STF), Captain Ikedichi Iweha, confirmed the incident.

He said: “There were skirmishes around Rayfield Resort which the
timely intervention of our personnel rescued. One person was killed
and we made some arrests and handed them over to the police for
prosecution.”
