Jonathan did not initiate no-go area – Ahamba

A delegate at the ongoing National Conference, Chief Mike Ahamba SAN, has declared that the issue of no go area was never an idea of President Goodluck Jonathan, but that the constitution does not allow such a matter to be discussed.

Chief Ahamba, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) told Blueprint in an exclusive interview that Jonathan cannot ask the delegates to discuss such areas because of the provision in the constitution of Nigeria adding that other areas are open for discussion.

“I want tell this nation that the President did not in fact initiate the no-go-areas that people ascribe to him. The constitution did. So that area is an area we cannot go into and which he cannot ask us to go into; every other area is open for discussion.”

Commenting on Jonathan’s speech at conference inauguration, the foremost SAN and former counsel to General Muhammadu Buhari said, “The speech is well structured, one of the best since he became President of this country and I think the points are well taken.

“We must all decide to make this conference a success;  the idea of people that  it would achieve nothing is most unfair, it is going to achieve something.
“My appeal to my fellow delegates is that we should all work hand in hand so that we can have a hand shake at the end.”
