Jigawa saves N11bn with public sector computerisation

Jigawa state government has said that it saved over N11 billion following the adoption of computerization in the processes in the state public sectors.
Declaring open the International Public Sector Accounting Standard (IPSAS) training program held at Manpower Development Institute (MDI), Dutse yesterday, the Head of civil Service, Alhaji Mustapha Amin said the new process also help the state government in  sorting out all the ghost workers hidden in the Public Service.

He explained that the move is part of the effort of Governor Sule Lamido’s administration to sanitize the civil services as well as ensuring a concrete audit of the public sectors in the state.
“Jigawa state had benefited immensely from the expertise of Mohammed Zakari and Co. Chattered Account expert that have been in partnership with the state and had trained a number of workers on information communication technology experts in the past 15 years” he added.

Through the firm, he said, the state had been set on a very sound footing in lined with the modern accounting and auditing techniques
“A total of 660 staff dealing with accounts and finances drawn from the state, local governments, Local Education Authority, judiciary, state House of Assembly would be trained in six batches”, he stated.
While, commissioner of finance, Honourable Nasiru Umar Roni, said his ministry had reached yet another milestone in its quest for total public financial management reform to conform with international standards.
He maintained that the reform process started 2007 and had a lot of positive changes that make the state an icon in the reform process.
