The deputy governor was received along with some Lamido’s loyalist to the APC by the party’s gubernatorial candidate, Alhaji Badaru Abubakar and other APC chieftain in the state.

Other prominent politicians expected to join the APC train within the week, are the two ex-Jigawa governors, Ibrahim Saminu Turaki and Ali Saad Birnin-Kudu, Ex-Senators Bello Maitama,   Muhammed Ibrahim, some serving commissioners and special advisers and special assistants.
Speaking to newsmen, shortly after collecting his APC membership card, Mahmoud said his decision to defect to APC was sequel to series of consultations by some chieftains of the party.

Meanwhile, the PDP yesterday announced the expulsion of the deputy governor over what it considered as anti-party activity.

A statement by his Galagamma ward Chairman, Alhaji Ibrahim Kafinta, in Dutse, stated that the decision for Mahmud’s expulsion was taken by the stakeholders in his ward, having learnt about his defection.

The ward chairman pointed out that the number two citizen in the state sabotaged the PDP during the recent National Assembly election, adding that the decision had received the blessing of his local council area.
