Incursion: Military threatens shoot at sight inside Lagos airport

The military weekend expressed concerns over what it termed incessant incursion into the airside of the international wing of the Murtala Muhammed Airport in Lagos vowing to henceforth shoot intruders.

The Military  Airport  Commandant of the airport, Group Captain  E.D Okolo, in an electronic statement issued by the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has issued  a “A restraining prder ” against  anyone  caught  trying  to  gain  access into the runway  of the airport  through the  perimeter fence.

The statement said, “It has been  observed  that  there is an increased  rate of incursion into the airside, through the perimeter fence, with far-reaching consequences.

“Furthemore, theft of Runway  lighting occurred not too long ago. All these occurrences undermine the safety  and security  of the airport.”

The practice, it added does not only undermine the security of the system but also imposes a huge financial burden on the airport authority as damaged or stolen critical facilities must be replaced.
