The no nonsense police officer said the IGP Task on Pipeline and Illegal Bunkering are ever ready to carry out their task of ensuring that illegal oil industry in the Niger Delta, which has recorded international attention over some sometimes now is put to a stop.

“Regular spills of oil, arguably caused by oil theft and sabotage, have polluted the water ways, contaminated crops and other food sources and released toxic chemicals into the air.

“The vast network of waterways that characterise many areas of transporting large quantities of oil, small barges or dugout wooden fishing canoes, called ‘Cotonou boats’ are some of the most popular vessels used to transport illegal oil, and we are ready to carry out diligent operations to put this to end,” he stated.
