IGP engages banks over officers elections allowances’ delay

In a bid to resolve the delay ams non payment of allowances of some police officers deployed for election duties during the February 25 Presidential and National Assembly elections the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Usman Baba, has met with management of the defaulting banks.

Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO), CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, disclosed this in a press statement in the ealry hours of Tuesday, titled: 2023 General Elections Payment.

It reads in part, “In furtherance of the IGPs passion to address the alleged delay or non payments of the police personnel election allowances,  IGP Usman Baba, on Monday March 6, met with the managements of defaulting DMBs, who were responsible for the delay in payment of 2023 election duty allowances to police personnel.”

The spokesperson noted that, “According to the Police Accountant and Budgets Department, the banks have been credited as schedules of payment have been dropped with the banks even before the February 25 elections.

“So, we urge the affected officers to remain calm as every penny accrued to them will be paid. Even the commencent for the payment of the second tranche for the guber elections will be paid as from today, Tuesday February 7, 2023.”
