IBBU matriculates 2, 228 students

The Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida University (IBBU), Lapai, yesterday matriculated 2228 students for the 2014 academic year.

783 of the students were admitted into the Faculty of Education and Arts, 549 others into Faculty of Management and Social Sciences while 470 students got into Faculty of Natural Sciences.

Also 298 students were admitted into Faculty of Languages and Communication Studies, 76 others into the Faculty of Agriculture, while 52 got into Faculty of Applied Science and Technology.

Addressing the students, the Vice-Chancellor of the university, Prof. Ibrahim Kolo, explained that over 10,000 applied for admission and that the institution had 2, 300 carrying capacity from the National University Commission (NUC).

He said the university ranks among the three best state-owned institutions in the country and advised the students to stay away from cultism.
He warned the students against using forged certificates, adding that anyone caught would face the wrath of the law

“You must also dressed properly as your dressing is a reflection of your character”, he said adding that the university takes the development of students in character and education very seriously.
He said that students that made first class in the university were sponsored abroad for Master degree programme adding that this was initiated in order to encourage hard work among the students.
