Group hails CAS on onslaught against bandits, terrorists

  

A rights group, Conference of Civil Society for Peace and National Development, has said the current onslaught being launched against terrorists, bandits and armed herdsmen in the country has added impetus to the war against insecurity in the country.

The group in a statement signed by its convener, Mallam Adamu Kabiru, explained that there was need for sustained aerial surveillance of the Nigeria Air Force which has led to successful neutralisation of bandits in Katsina, Zamfara and armed herdsmen in Benue and states in the South-east.

According to the group, relative peace has returned to the affected areas since the air offensive have commenced noting that if more of such operations are sustained, it will go a long way in decimating bandits, kidnappers, armed herders and other criminals obstructing peace and tranquility in the affected areas.

The group also expressed optimism that the testimonies coming from Katsina, Zamfara Benue and South Eastern states will soon be said of Kaduna and Niger states that have come under renewed attacks by herders and bandits.  

The group further sued for collaboration to put a permanent end kidnapping of school children as stressing that with the vigour the Air Force is carrying out aerial surveillance kidnappers and bandits will soon be a thing of the past. 

The Nigerian military especially the Air force has done so much in the right against insurgents and terrorist elements in Nigeria and must be celebrated and encouraged. The president and indeed all Nigerians must rally support for the Air force by supplying them with the much needed security to enable them excel.

“We are delighted to identify with a proactive and professional soldier in the person of the Chief of Air Staff under whose tenure; Nigeria is gradually   becoming free from attacks, thanks to the professional deployment of air assets in a timely and determined manner”, the group added.
