Gombe to renew effort against youth restiveness

Gombe state Commissioner for Youth Empowerment, Malam Faruk Yarma, has said that one of the biggest challenges facing the ministry in the second tenure of Governor Ibrahim Dankwambo was how to address youth restiveness.

Yarma stated this in Gombe when he was received by the staff of the ministry, he said directing the youth to the right direction they should go, would serve as securing the future of the state, through enhanced rehabilitation programmes, skills acquisition trainings, and other programmes, even as he said the Ministry would strive to woo all relevant agencies in to the state in other to effectively address the issue.

“I am very much aware that, my predecessor has done a lot with the support of the government, but still we have not achieved the desired goal, because youth restiveness has returned in full,” he said.
He said some of the youth, who were trained under Talba Youth Rehabilitation Programme and engaged into the state Marshal Agency initiated by Governor Dankwambo during his first tenure, were currently receiving stipends without doing the responsibility assigned to them.

The newly appointed Commissioner, who promised that things were not going to be like business as usual, urged the management and other staff of the ministry, to corporate with him in order to move the ministry forward.
On her part, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Youth Empowerment, Mrs. Dije Rubainu, who performed the handing over to the new Commissioner, promised to work with him to realise effective transformation of the youth.
