FUTMinna partners Ado-Ekiti Poly on manpower training

As part of efforts to increase access to qualitative tertiary education, the Federal University of Technology, Minna (FUTMinna), in Niger state, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Federal Polytechnic, Ado Ekiti, in Ekiti state.

The MoU was for both educational affiliation and the training of manpower in the fields of engineering, science and technology.

Vice chancellor, Professor Abdullahi Bala, at the Senate chamber in Gidan Kwano campus, explained that the primary concern of their school for entering into the partnership was to use such affiliation as a platform to further enhance access to university education by  Nigerians, in line with the institution’s mandate of community service.

“In the end, when we have students coming through affiliation programmes, it expands our alumni network, which is a long-term vision. When you have alumni all over the country, sooner or later, the university will begin to benefit from such relationships.

“It is important that we try to get as many students as possible from different parts of the country, because it enhances our national and global profile over time,” the VC said.

On his part, the Ado-Ekitipolytechnic’s rector, Dr Dayo H. Oladebeye, thanked FUTMinna management for accepting to partner with them.

Oladebeye expressed hope that the relationship would be beneficial to both parties, especially now that most institutions are trying to build up their Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) base to complement the subventions from the government.

He assured the VC that their polytechnic would work in consonance with the terms and conditions of the MoU.
