FRSC seeks collaboration on road safety

Gombe

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Gombe state command, has sought the support of members of the general public to ensure the safety of the roads.
The state Sector Commander, Godwin Omika, made the appeal in Gombe yesterday while briefing newsmen as part of activities marking the 30th anniversary of the commission in Nigeria.
“Many organisations and agencies that were established with FRSC have collapsed but we and the National Orientation Agency have made it.
“Our mandate is to reduce road crashes to the barest minimum as well as rescue those involved in a crash.
“Therefore, I am calling on the general public to collaborate with us to enable us achieve our mandate,” he said.
As part of activities of the anniversary, officers and men of the command, the NURTW and special marshals, in a motorcade, went round the major streets of Gombe with public address system, sensitizing people on safety of the road.
And also on Friday and Sunday, they will go to Mosques and Churches to sensitise people on the safety of the road.
Also on Saturday there will be public lecture and interaction with the public as well as a novelty match between the regular and special marshals.
