FRSC introduces electric vehicle

The Federal Road Safety Corpse (FRSC) said the world is gradually shifting from fueled vehicles to electric system for a sustainable transport system in the world.

It said electric vehicles would provide safe, accessible and environmentally friendly transport in the country.

Delta state sector commander of the FRSC, Mr. Eshiet Udeme, stated this in Asaba while speaking on the activities lined up to celebrate the seventh United Nations Global Road Safety week.

He said the essence of the celebration was to make every country have sustainable transport system.

He stated further that, “Because of the frightening data of road clashes, and others, occasioned by fuel vehicles, there is urgent need to move away from a system that would always damage the public via dangerous emissions of burning of fuel in vehicles.

“We are celebrating the seventh United Nations global road Safety week, the whole essence is to make sure we have sustainable transport system in the world.”

“We are looking at train, ship and other electric mobility which the United Nations wants to introduce to the people, even though we have been able to surmount the trend of road clashes.”

The sector command said stakeholders in the transport sector have been educated on the need to move towards the direction of “sustainable transport system.”

He urged policy makers to think outside the box and adhere strictly to United Nations directive that all nations, including Nigeria, should shift to sustainable transport mobility, adding that it will go a long way to prevent people from inhaling dangerous gas into the body system.
