No fewer than fifty indigenes of Oro nation in Akwa Ibom State have been empowered by the former Sole Administrator of the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, Dr. Effiong Akwa.
This is even as Dr. Effiong Akwa had previously offered scholarships to some sets of students studying in different higher institutions in the country.
Speaking at the award ceremony, Dr. Akwa noted that the decision to empower the people was burn out of his outmost desire to put smiles on the faces of the people, which he said has been a recurrent event.
The event, which was the third in the series, also witnessed the presentation of gift items to selected women as well as some youths who also received special packages.
Responding, some of the beneficiaries however thanked Dr. Effiong Akwa for giving back to his people and pledged their readiness to put the gesture into good use.
