FCT CP Garba’s promotion to AIG excites Sardauna Forum 

The Sardauna Forum Nigeria has hailed the promotion of Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Commissioner of Police, Haruna Garba to the rank of Assistant Inspector General of Police.

Spokesman of the forum, High Chief Enoch N. Fada, in a chat with journalists at the weekend, of said the approval of Garba’s elevation by the Police Service Commission (PSC) is reward for hard work.

In this vein, Fada said the forum expressed the hope that Garba will invariably make good his new position.

According to the spokesman wished the quintessential police officer greater heights in his career, adding that whoever replaces him as FCT Commissioner of Police should take a cue from the shining examples of the newly promoted police officer.

Blueprint recalled that the Police service Commission (PSC) had last week Wednesday approved new appointments and promotions involving 1,897 senior police officers.

Haruna Garba and 13 other CPs were promoted to the rank of Assistant Inspectors General of Police (AIGs) just as a former AIG Dasuki Galadanci was promoted to Deputy Inspector General (DIG) to represent the North-West zone. He replaces DIG Ibrahim Ka’oje, who is expected to retire on February 2, 2024.

Chairman of the Police Service Commission (PSC), Dr. Solomon Arase, a former Inspector General of Police (IGP) said the senior officers were interviewed by the Commission and proved outstanding before their promotions and deployments.

Meanwhile, the approval has been conveyed to the Inspector General of Police, Olukayode Egbetokun, for implementation.

Head of Press and Public Relations of the PSC, Ikechukwu Ani, in a statement of said the promotion of one CP was stepped down to enable the commission review pending disciplinary matters against the officer.

“The new AIGs are; Yetunde Longe, CP Eastern Ports, Port Harcourt, Haruna Garba, CP Federal Capital Territory; Tajudeen Abass, CP Delta State; Rex Dundun, CP General Investigation, FCID Annex Kaduna; Durosinmi Olatoye, CP Akwa Ibom State; Afolabi Adeniyi, CP Adamawa State; Abiodun Asabi, CP Ondo State; CP Julius Okoro; CP Plateau state; George Huku, CP Benue State; Paul 

Omata, CP K9 Force Headquarters; Yusuf Akeem, CP Research and Development, Force Headquarters; Bzigu Dali, CP Osun State; Idris Nagoyo, Police Mounted Troop Squadron and CP Ogundare Emmanuel, CP Ekiti state,” the statement said.

The commission also promoted 21 Deputy Commissioners of Police to the substantive rank of Commissioners; 20 Assistant Commissioners to Deputy Commissioners; 109 Chief Superintendents to Assistant Commissioners; and 184 Superintendents to Chief Superintendents.

It also considered and approved the promotion of 1549 Assistant Superintendents to Deputy Superintendents.

According to the statement, “Deputy Commissioners promoted to the next rank of substantive Commissioners are; Olanrewaju Ogunlowo, Assistant Chief of Mission in Somalia; Mohammed Dahiru, DCP State CID Adamawa; Sunday Olukayode, DCP Operations, Plateau State; and Peter Opara, DCP Admin, Imo State,” among others.
