A leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Zamfara state and former Governor Abdulaziz Yari Abubakar has distributed 30,000 bags of fertilizer to farmers in the state at subsidized rate.
Speaking at the flag off ceremony of the distribution of the fertilizer held at the state party Secretariat in Gusau Saturday, Yari said a total of 50 trucks loaded with fertilizer was provided.
According to him, each local government will benefit from 1,850 bags.
He said each bag is to be sold at the cost of N4,750 given that the state as an agrarian state in the northwest.
“The gesture was based on our consideration to assist small scale farmers to get the product at affordable price for them to improve their farming activities in the state”. Yari said.
In his remarks, the national caretaker committee chairman of the APC, Alhaji Maimala Buni who was represented by North-west zonal national caretaker committee chairman of the APC, Senator Abba Ali, commended the former governor for the support given to farmers in the state.
Also speaking, the APC caretaker committee chairman, Alhaji Lawal Muhammad Liman lauded the national leadership of the party under the leadership of Buni for the rebranding the party structures in the country.
