Equity market gains N184bn

Trading activities on the floor of Nigerian Exchange on Wednesday returned to positive trend, gaining N184 billion.

Market capitalisation of listed equities increased by 0.71 per cent to N25.959 trillion from N25.775 trillion reported the previous day.

The NGX All Share Index also appreciated by 337.17 basis points to 47660.04 points from 47322.87 points reported on Tuesday.

Investors traded 107.019 million shares valued at N1.318 in 3227 deals against 120.946 million shares worth N1.647 billion in 3022 deals.

A review of the Investment during the day, showed that Wema Bank Plc led gainers table during the day, gaining 10.00 per cent to N3.30,UACN followed with a gain of 9.95 per cent to N10.50, Academy Press added 9.45 per cent to N1.39, United Capital increased by 8.10 per cent to N13.35, ABC Transport gained 8.00 per cent to N0.27.

Conversely, Royal Express topped losers chart , dropping by 10 per cent to N0.63, Redstarex trailed with a loss of 9.25 per cent to N2.06, Prestige Insurance declined by 8.51 per cent to N0.43, Nigerian Breweries down by 7.08 per cent to N42.00, RTBriscoe fell by 6.90 per cent to N0.27.

The result further showed that FBNHoldings was the toast of investors, exchanging 12.528 million shares valued at N139.636 million, Fidelity Bank followed with account of 10.252 million shares cost N42.197 million, Zenith Bank traded 8.039 million shares valued at N174.545 million, Wema Bank traded 5.855 million shares worth N18.509 million while Stanbic IBTC traded 5.058 million shares cost N154.529 million.
