Equity market closes higher, gains N36bn

Trading activities on the floor of Nigerian Stock NSE Wednesday closed northward, retuŕning bullish run with N36 billion gain.

Specifically, market capitalisation of listed equities increased marginally by 0.17 per cent to N21.158 trillion from N21.122 trillion reported the previous day.

The NSE All Share Index also appreciated by 69.01 basis points to 40465.15 points from 40396.14 points traded on Wednesday.

Investors traded 249.545 million shares valued at N2.184 billion in 6090 deals against 465.673 million shares cost N5.117 billion in 7573 deals.

A review of the transactions during the day showed Boc Gas led gainers table during the day, gaining N1.00 to close at N11.50 kobo, Flour Mill Nigeria Plc followed with a gain of N0.90 kobo to close at N27.00, Zenith Bank gained N0 50 kobo to close at N25.10 kobo, Vitafoam Nigeria added N0.25 kobo to close at N9.00, United Bank for Africa up by N0.20 kobo to close at N8.60 kobo.

On the contrary, Eterna Plc topped losers chart, dropping by N0.47 kobo to close at N5.28 kobo, PZ Cusson trailed with a loss of N0.15 kobo to close at N5.15 kobo, Neimeth Pharmaceutical fell by N0.11 kobo to close at N2.05 kobo, Africa Prudential dipped by N0.10 kobo to close at N6.65 kobo while AIICO declined by N0.08 kobo to close at N1.11 kobo.

Further analysis of the investment indicated that Japaul Gold was the most active stock during the day, trading 28.056 million shares valued at N22.723 million, Access Bank Plc followed with account of 21.896 million shares cost N190.431 million, Mansard traded 13.263 million shares cost N16.398 million, United Bank for Africa sold a total of 13.228 million shares valued at N113.099 million while Transnational Corporation of Nigeria exchanged 12.787 million shares cost N12.134 million.
