A former director in Kaduna state Ministry of Education, Alhaji Bashir Aliyu, has faulted the recent examinations conducted by the state government to test the eligibility of its teachers across the state.
Aliyu, in an exclusive interview with Blueprint in Zaria, yesterday condemned the procedures adopted for the conduct of the aptitude test, explaining that, while not kicking against the tests per se, he was not happy with the way it was conducted.
He said teachers’ examination normally followed the various fields of studies, observations and interviews.
Aliyu further explained that, as far education was concerned, the test was wrong, considering the fact that majority of those that sat for the tests were said to have failed, saying:“in that regard there must have been something along the line the process.”
“Under normal circumstances, the pass mark for every examination was below 50 per cent and not 75 per cent announced by the state government,” he said.
Aliyu advised the state government to shop for retired educationists for guide in matters relating to teaching, saying, “The retired educationists that passed through Grade II to Ph. D levels don’t know anything other than teaching, from primary to tertiary school.”
