Edo: Correspondents’ chapel mourns oldest journalist


Members of the Correspondents Chapel, Edo state council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), have expressed shock over the death of the oldest ‘practising veteran’ in the state, Pa Sunny Ojeduma.
Chairman of the Correspondents Chapel, Mrs. Nefishetu Yakubu, led members on a condolence visit to the late journalist’s residence on Monday in Benin City.
Yakubu urged the bereaved family of Pa Ojeduma to be strong and described his contributions to the journalism profession as profound.


Speaking, the widow of the late journalist, Mrs. Joy Ojeduma, described her husband’s death as a great loss.
She revealed that when her husband was sick, the family took him to several hospitals in a bid to restore his health before he passed on.


The veteran journalist started his journalism career over 50 years ago.
Ojeduma died at the University of Benin teaching Hospital, (UBTH) on Sunday morning after a brief illness. He was 75 years old.


The journalist who is survived by a wife and 12 Children, hails from Uhomora in Owan West local government area of Edo state.
He worked for the defunct Community Concord, AM Newspapers and recently,  The News and City People News Magazine. 
Until his death, Pa Ojeduma was a member of the Correspondents’ Chapel, Edo State Council of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ).
