The Ebonyi State Commissioner for Project Monitoring and Evaluation, Chief Oluchukwu Ukie Ezeali, has commended the state governor, Engr. David Umahi, on numerous projects in the state, including the construction of ultramodern medical and educational facilities in Ebonyi State University Teaching Hospital (ESUTH), Uburu, which he said is nearing 80% completion.
He made the commendation Friday while speaking with Blueprint, saying the facilities, which were started in August, 2019, have the ability to provide over 10,000 jobs for Nigerians in order to reduce unemployment in the state.
Ezeali stated that the study section of the University will kickoff soon and reemphasised Governor Umahi’s assurances that the University Teaching Hospital will handle critical cases like kidney transplant, open heart surgery, chemotherapy, In-Vitro Fertilization (IVF) and other terminal diseases that make our people seek medical solutions abroad.
He said: “I am optimistic that the study section of the University will kickoff very soon. The Ebonyi State University Teaching Hospital has the ability to handle cases like kidney transplant, heart diseases and other terminal diseases that make our people seek medical solutions abroad. The University has the capacity to create 10,000 jobs within its value-chain and transform the economy of the host community and contribute immensely to reduce unemployment in Ebonyi.
“Ebonyians should ignore the lies, slanderous claims and shenanigans of cynics and detractors who are simply confounded by the outstanding performance of the Governor across all sectors to the point of loss of their ability to put their emotions in check in public.
“The Governor remains focused on accomplishing set-goals, committed to his promises and inspired by the remarkable achievements of his past 5 years in office.
“Many of the structures had been completed and ready for use, including fascinating male and female hostels, with over 1,000 students’ capacity, a solar power plant with installed capacity of 500KVA inverter to provide uninterrupted power supply for the comfort of the students.
“There is also a four-floor Junior Staff Quarters containing 66 two bedrooms flat apartments for staffs and teachers’ accommodation and comfort, another four floor Senior Staff Quarters containing 46 three bedrooms flat apartments for Senior Lecturers accommodation and comfort.
“There is also a magnificent ultramodern school block where all studies and other academic activities will be taking place; it is a four floor building spanning a built up area of 6000 square meter with lift/elevators and escalators for ease and comfort of the students, among other facilities.”
