Ebonyi sets up 4-man c’ttee to investigate Olympic stadium fence collapse

 

Ebonyi state government Thursday set up a 4- man committee to investigate the circumstances surrounding the collapse of the perimeter fence at the on-going Olympic multi-million naira stadium being constructed by the government.

The state government gave them seven days to submit their findings and the committee is headed by one Mr. Mohammed

The state commissioner for Information and Orientation, Barrister Uchenna Orji,  disclosed  in Abakaliki on Wednesday night while briefing journalists on the outcome of the State Executive Council meeting.

“Council was worried at the sudden collapse of the perimeter fence at the  on-going Stadium located at the Centenary City Abakaliki insisting that the committee would unravel the circumstances that led to the collapse.

“The terms of reference included, to unravel the circumstances that led to the collapse of the perimeter fence, evaluate the work to be done, ascertain the extent of the collapsed fence and any other matters that may be in the interest of the state.

“The committee has seven days to submit its report and make recommendations to the state government.

Orji among other things deliberated by exco  include said  the on-going International  cargo Airport in the state which would be completed by December 2021.

Orji noted that the State Executive Council has made approvals in different phases to ensure construction of the parking lots  at the airport.

He said, “the Executive Council has approved N949 million in the first phase while N950 and N643 million has been approved for the second and third phases respectively.”
