DSS invites group leader for alleged plan to stage secession protest

The Department of State Service (DSS), Monday held the leader of a Yoruba socio-cultural group, Kiriji Heritage Defenders, Dr Ademola Ekundayo, over alleged plan to embark on secession protest.

The leader of the group was said to have been interrogated when he went to the office of DSS upon invitation.

There had been rumour that Yoruba Self Determination Group planned to stage a protest in Osun after the failure of its protest on April 17, 2021, in Ibadan, Oyo state.

Security source told our correspondent that Ekundayo was held for over four hours before he was released.

Though, Ekundayo denied his membership of any of the groups planing to stage secession protest, he confirmed the invitation by DSS.

He said “we are not criminals or collaborating with any criminal group. The security men are just being proactive. We are not secessionists in Kiriji Heritage Defenders.

According to Ekundayo, the rally being planned in Osun is beyond the group he belonged to. He said the concern of the group is to ensure security of lives of Yoruba people.
