Drop Service Chiefs now, ADP tells Buhari

The Action Democratic Party (ADP) has asked President Muhamadu Buhari to explain to Nigerians why he has so far refused to disengage the Service Chiefs, whose retirements are long overdue.
The party lamented the increasing insecurity and massive killings particularly in the North Central region of Plateau, Benue as well as Taraba, Adamawa, Zamfara, Kebbi and others demonstrates the incompetence of the service chiefs.
In a statement issued yesterday, the party also alleged that low morale among the ranks and file equally contributes to the poor performance of security operatives in the country.
“We believe strongly that the low morale among the rank and file is attributable to rampant insecurity in the country and the ongoing wanton killings in the North-central.”
“It is a convention well known to even President Buhari, who himself is a retired General, that in the Military, like other highly professional mechanistic organisations, there is a laid down succession plan religiously adhered to in order to maintain discipline and efficiency”, the party’s Director of Media, Pastor Kayode Jacob, quoted the National Chairman of the party, Engr. Yabagi Sani.
Further, Engr. Sani urged the APC-led federal government to stop blaming imaginary politicians, instead develop the will to allow military succession plan rather subvert the process noting that this would allow competent officers to lead the service.
“Political consideration is the only reason why the President has subverted the normal succession process in the military in the belief that they can be deployed to subvert the electoral process in 2019. Let the President speak and act now”, Sani said.
