Cult war: Police arrest two suspects, recover vehicle, other exhibits


The Anambra state command, Thursday, said they have arrested two suspects in connection with killing of two persons.
The suspects, Mr Victor Ikechukwu, 30 and Mr Ifeanyi Uyanne, 35, were allegedly killed by cultists at popular UNIZIK temporary site, Okpuno in Awka South local government area. 
The State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Ikechukwu Ikenga, said the command also recovered one tinted Toyota Corolla Vehicle and one suspected military cap uniform.


“The Anambra Police Command Operatives have arrested two suspects, in connection with a case of cultism. The suspects, namely Mr Victor Ikechukwu aged 30years and Mr Ifeanyi Uyanne aged 35years were arrested following a shooting incident which occured on the 7th April 2021, at Tempsite Okpuno, Awka, Anambra State.”


“However, two yet unidentified young men who sustained gun- shot wounds were found at the crime scene. They were  rushed to a nearby hospital but were confirmed dead by a doctor on ground,” he disclosed in a statement.  He said the command’s Commissioner of Police Anambra State, CP Monday Bala Kuryas, has enjoined parents and guardians to watch over their children and wards and prevent them from engaging in cultism and associated vices.
