Constituents pass vote of confidence on Edo lawmaker

By Patrick Ahanor

The people of Orhionmwon South State constituency II in Edo state on Tuesday unanimously threw their weight behind the member representing the area at the House of Assembly, Barrister Friday Ogierhiakhi, declaring that the lawmaker had remained committed to his electioneering promises.
A former councilor in the area, Mr. Influence Osagie, who moved the motion for Ogierhiakhi’s endorsement during a meeting with PDP stakeholders, said the decision was aimed at spurring the legislator to continue with his live touching projects in the area.
He recalled  that the  donation of borehole projects across communities in the constituency and donation of school uniforms and writing materials to public school students through his movement; final push.

Besides, the people frowned upon what they described as Governor Adams Oshiomhole’s attempt to reduce the legislative arm of government to his personal aide in the ongoing crisis rocking the House of Assembly.
They said: “As far as we are concerned, the purported suspension of our representative at the Assembly is null and void because we voted him into the House and we are equally saying that we are not tired of his representation. So, any attempt by the All Progressive Party leadership at the Assembly to deprive us of our seat would be resisted.”

On his part, leader of the party in the area and ex-SSG to Edo state government, Barrister Osagie Ize-Iyamu,  expressed conviction that some APC members were poised to joined the PDP soonest.
He said “they would have joined earlier, but because theystill wanted to be collecting salary… and I have told them to stay behind and collect because it’s government money.”
