Confab: It is okay to call it Jonathan’s Conference – Waziri

One of the federal government delegates to the ongoing National Conference, Alhaji Ibrahim Waziri, said those calling the conference Jonathan’s own were not wrong, saying, the President had shown a lot of courage to be credited.

Waziri told Blueprint in an exclusive interview that it has been on agenda for so long in the country to talk about our many problems adding that President Jonathan has shown the courage and it was indeed time to talk.
Opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) and several others who do not believe in the ongoing National Conference had on several occasions described it as “President Jonathan’s conference.”

But Waziri said: “Absolutely, I believe it is time to talk, we need to talk, it has been on the agenda for so long, so I believe we should talk. President Jonathan has a lot of courage so we have to give it to him because it has been an issue. In any case it is to his credit if it is called Jonathan’s conference, nothing is wrong with that, it is part of it, it is good.”
Reacting to insinuation that the conference is also loaded with people accused of causing Nigeria’s woos, the conferee said: “I think you can’t solve the problem without the people who caused the problems in the first place, so it is positive.”

While assessing the proceedings so far, Waziri said: “So far so good, we are trying to work out the rules of the game which are expected to build the foundation of what will come out of the meeting.”
