Cleric urges Nigerians to get national, voter cards

As 2015 general elections draw closer, Nigerians have been urged to “go and get both the national and voter cards” for proper identification to enable them vote for the candidate of their choice in representative positions.

Senior Reverend of First Baptist Church, Kaduna, Banjo Ajao, who made the call during yesterday’s service exhortation in Kaduna, added that the national identity card would enable Nigerians easy identification within and outside the country. He said it might also help in getting quick medical attention whenever the need “arises because the card is expected to carry useful personal information.”

He said the only opportunity people had to challenge their representatives at one point in time or the order was their ability to be part of election process “which starts with voter’s registration and card.”
He said: “I want to use this medium to remind our people of two things that have to do with government; and these are registration of national identity card and voter card.

“This will enable us to be identified as a true Nigerians wherever we go both within and outside the country. As for the voter’s card, it will enable us to vote for people of our choice and that will give us the opportunity to ask questions if they fail to deliver.”
Banjo, however, called on the people to eschew violence, contribute their widow’s mite and intensify prayers to God for the total peace in the country.
