Cleric to FG: Employ moral values to curb insecurity

A cleric, Bishop Dan Possible Yusuf, has tasked the federal government to make concerted use of moral values in the basic and tertiary institutions the basis for understanding, love and peace in the country.
The Founder of Chapel of Possibilities International, Apo, Abuja, stated this in an interview with Blueprint at the weekend during the wedding ceremony of his daughter, Gladness, which took place at the main hall of Evening World Garden in Apo, Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
According to the cleric, much of the crisis being witnessed in the country today arose as a result of the lack of knowledge of the sanctity of life, which the Bible says no one has the right to take, adding that such knowledge is imbibed at home and in the school.
“Unfortunately, today, our teachers in primary, secondary and tertiary institutions are more concerned about their salaries and allowances, forgetting that, if the society is not peaceful they cannot enjoy the money no matter how much they get,” he said.
“You ask how all my children are very humble and well-behaved; yes, because I incorporated in them the fear of God from childhood.
I made sure they go to schools where there is discipline and Godliness.
The federal government, if it wants to solve the problem of insecurity ravaging this country, must go back to develop a curriculum mainly dedicated to morality in the society.
“There was this course even in the university that every student needed to take, whatever discipline you were studying, called “moral philosophy”.
We need moral codes and values taught in schools.
Those killing and maiming people don’t know the pains parents go through to bring their children up,” he said.
He noted that, during his school days, moral values of love, humility, friendship and giving were taught, to help moderate the conduct of children.
The marriage solemnisation, characterised by pomp and pageantry, witnessed the presence of the who is who from the Bishop Dan Possible family and that of the groom, Mr.
Simon Aboko
