Chinese working on railway projects didn’t travel – Minister

Following the recent outbreak of Coronavirus, the Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi said Chinese working on Railway projects across the country didn’t travel, stating  there’s no way they could have had contact with those with the virus.

The Minister said the federal government has taken necessary precautions to prevent the outbreak of the disease in Nigeria.

The Minister while reacting in a telephone interview assured that from his recent meetings and interactions with the Chinese, there was no cause for alarm. Just as he urged Nigerians to take personal preventive measures.

The Minister said: “This Government is not irresponsible. With nearly 200 million people, the government has taken various preventive measures”.

According to him, those who travelled are quarantined, for 18 to 21 days.

On federal government strategies to curtail the Chinese movement into Nigeria following the outbreak of the Coronavirus, the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) assured that their Airports are fully equipped with functional medical clinics .

The General Manager , Cooperate Affairs , FAAN, Mrs Henrietta Yakubu said all passengers are advised to report any form of illness to the Porth Health officials for proper assistance.
