Centenary celebration: ‘President School Debate’ holds final in Abuja

As part of Nigeria’s centenary celebration, the President’s School Debate will today start the process of its final debate completion, in Abuja.
This year’s competition marking the centenary is expected to be flagged off by the Minister of Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Senator Bala Mohammed, while Speaker of the House of Representative Aminu Tambuwal is expected to chair the ceremony.
National Coordinator, Mr. President Debate in Nigeria, Elder Dare Oritu, said this at a press briefing on Friday.

“The centenary project is anchored on attitudinal change, re-orientation, revival of beautiful cultural values and instill a new spirit of patriotism and hope in all Nigerians,” he said.

“They realised that there is need to make our secondary and primary school pupils to be part of this very important celebration through the Nigeria centenary school debate, for proper and effective utilisation of the talent that abound In our secondary school students across the country.

“The debate competition is a veritable tool to encourage and instill confidence in public speech, language development and it is a good platform for interaction among our youth.

“It is our desire that this exercise will encourage our youth to learn more about Nigeria nation and facilitate dialogue among them on issues of Nigeria unity and development,” he added.
