Candidates lament N500 payment for JAMB slip reprint

Candidates preparing to write this year’s Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) examination in Ebonyi state Tuesday, lamented payment of five hundred naira for reprinting of JAMB form.

Speaking to Blueprint, candidates narrated how they were made to pay five hundred naira for the form.

Some of the candidates including Ifenna Chibuike Daniel who is aspiring to study pharmacy at the University of Nigeria Nsukka said “I was asked to pay 500 naira to obtain jamb reprint slip”.

Though ready for the exams, he wondered why they were asked to pay five hundred naira over what one can ordinarily pay one hundred naira to get.

Another candidates Olanma Akam said: “on Monday when we came to generate our print out for the JAMB mock; we were told that we should come on Tuesday with six hundred naira for JAMB reprint. On arriving at Jamb office on Tuesday, we were told to go to cyber cafe around their office for the reprinting and we are now asked to pay five hundred naira for it.

We tried bargaining the price the people in charge of the cyber cafe said that nothing could be done owing that was the last day for the reprinting.

Further investigation showed that the official price by JAMB was two hundred naira.

A staff of JAMB who spoke on condition anonymity said the body collect two hundred naira for the reprinting, but due to the rigorous process involved it is better you go outside for the reprinting.  What will take you five minutes to get in a private business centre; could make you spend hours before obtaining it our office .
